I had an amazing professor at Vanderbilt that once said, “Most of life’s ailments can be solved with sleep, diet, and exercise.”
I have been in practice over 17 years and those words resonate more and more every day.
At a minimum, our body needs 3 things: sleep, proper nutrition, and exercise.
Adequate sleep is 7 to 9 hours a night. It is best to minimize nighttime distractions and limit alcohol and phone/computer screens before bed.
Good nutrition consists of lots of fruits and vegetables and limits foods with barcodes.
Our bodies want to move. Enough exercise is defined as 150 minutes a week. That’s 30 minutes of movement for at least 5 days a week.
