Recap

  • I crossed the 160-pound line on the scale. I knew it was time for a change.

  • I got under 160 pounds on my own!  I did it! I got to 155 pounds. But then the scale didn't move. At all. And I was feeling really frustrated.

  • First visit/shot: 155 lbs

  • Second visit/shot: 153 lbs

  • Third visit/shot: 152 lbs

  • Fourth visit/shot: 151 lbs

  • Fifth visit/shot: 150 lbs

  • Sixth visit/shot: 148 lbs

  • Seventh visit/shot: 150 lbs

Week six - seven

Seeing that scale land north of last week's number was a bit of a bummer.

First, Michelle assured me that it's common. I'm not in the weight-loss dosage zone yet and weight fluctuates - with everyone.

Second - and quite surprisingly - I was actually ok with it. I know I'm on a really good path. I know I will be losing more weight. I also know that despite being perimenopausal (maybe even drop the "peri" part), I still have monthly water retention, mood swings and those feelings of "ugh". This week's weigh-in was in the middle of all that.

My shot dosage was increased again this week and I definitely have some light side effects. There's a little nausea, but it's manageable. There's that feeling of being drained - but the fatigue isn't as bad as before the B12 shots. I was given another B12 shot at this week's appointment and continue to take daily B12 gummies.

Exercise

I continue to make physical activity part of my day. Whether it's gardening, walking or aerobic activity at the Y, I'm doing my best to get up and move. I can feel it in my body and my mood when I don't get outside. Some days it's harder to get myself moving - but I never regret it!

Moving forward

My weeks continue to stay busy and, despite the positive two pounds this week, I'm very much enjoying my journey.

I'm back for the eighth shot early next week - I'm getting closer to an increased weekly dosage, and that means quicker weight loss. But I'm patient. And it's pretty amazing that I'm almost two months in!

Have a great week!

- Hillary
